THE EARLY YEARS
In the 1920’s, Edwin C. Koontz built the funeral home at its present location in the South Hills area of Pittsburgh. It was unique, since it was one of the first facilities built as a funeral home, with apartments for the owner’s family and others. Prior to that time, the funeral home operated out of two private residences in Carrick and Mt. Oliver. He made provisions for a parking lot, at a time when few families had automobiles.

THE NEXT GENERATION
Edwin C. “Pete” Koontz, Jr. followed his father into the funeral profession. In 1954, he hired Thaddeus T. “Ted” Boron, who ran the funeral home until he purchased it in 1968. The funeral home operated as the Koontz-Boron Funeral Home until 1978, at which time it became known as the Boron Funeral Home.

OUR FAMILY SERVING YOUR FAMILY
Ted Boron and his wife, Lucy, have over 50 years each of service to the community as licensed funeral directors. They are joined by their sons, Thaddeus T. “Ted” Jr. and Edward D. “Ed” Boron. Both have been licensed funeral directors since 1978.

We are still family owned and operated and live in the communities we serve.
