Proudly holding their reading certificates and books are Pittsburgh Concord K-5 students Leona Lipowcom, Dinah Devault, Aedan Symons, and Xander Harris along with Principal Susan Barie. The students successfully completed the “Reach for the Stars” reading challenge.

Pittsburgh Concord K-5 conducted its first "Reach for the Stars" reading challenge program sponsored by Usborne Books and More.

The students read and logged their minutes for two weeks and at the same time asked friends and family to sponsor their reading efforts. The program was a great success with the children logging more than 8,500 minutes and adding over $675 worth of educational materials to the classrooms no cost to the school. The children were given an additional challenge to read at 1,000 minutes.

All the students who participated are to be commended for their efforts in both their daily reading and collecting sponsors. For more information on the Reach for the Stars reading incentive program, contact coordinator, Judy Kinnee at 412-680-9205 or jlkinnee@gmail.com
