LIPINSKI WALTER L.

Age 90, of Carrick, formerly of Southside and Sharpsburg. He was the son of the late Stanley Lipinski and Mary Dembowski. A veteran of World War II, he served with the 506th parachute regiment of the 101st Airborne and was awarded two Purple Hearts, a Bronze Star, and a Silver Star. He is featured in the book "Ramsbury at War" by British author, Roger Day, and the Walter Lipinski Archive chronicling his war-time experience resides in the Library of Congress. He was married for 49 years to Helen Mary (Nogowski) Lipinski, who preceded him in death. Beloved father of Patricia Marie (F. Robert) McMurray, David John Lipinski, Richard C. (Rebecca) Lipinski, and Gregory (Phyllis) Lipinski; and proud grandfather of Ryan, Jessica and Morgan Lipinski; he is survived by a brother, Leo Lipinski of Sharpsburg. Nine sisters and one brother preceded him in death. He was retired from the U.S. Bureau of Mines. Friends will be received Thursday, October 23, 2014, from 2-9 p.m. at the READSHAW FUNERAL HOME, INC., 1503 Brownsville Rd. in Carrick. Funeral Prayer on Friday, October 24, 2014, at 9:30 a.m., with a Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 10:00 a.m. at St. Basil Church, 1735 Brownsville Rd.
